Flagship property of Puligny-Montrachet, Etienne Sauzet area covers 9 hectares. This field was born during the first half of the twentieth century Etienne Sauzet inherited some vineyards. The latter never ceased to expand his property which had up to 12 hectares in 1950. Upon the death of Stephen Sauzet, his daughter Jeanine and her husband Gerard Boudot retook the field they lead today. Like most major areas of Burgundy, the area Etienne Sauzet attaches great importance to preserve its vineyards and terroirs. In this sense the field is driven by rational control. Winemaking and farming are the ones conducted in the traditional manner. Outstanding winemaker, Gérard Boudot adapts its winemaking to the particularities of each vintage. In 2003 year of strong heat it has not hesitated to use large quantities of dry ice. Etienne Sauzet has several great wines of Burgundy in his wallet as Montrachet or Chassagne-Montrachet. Magic of terroir and know-how make Etienne Sauzet a reference for white wines of Burgundy. Fans will still remember the sublime Batard-Montrachet 1986 from the field.
